Why CWPAC Endorsed

Before knocking off liberal Republican Joe Schwartz in 2006, Congressman Tim Walberg had shown himself to be a strong conservative on our issues.  As a state Representative in the Michigan legislature for 15 years, Tim compiled a 100 percent pro-life voting record.  He gained a reputation as a principled voice for less government spending, lower taxes, less regulations and a compassionate voice for the culture of life and traditional values.  In the House, Tim Walberg voted to end Medicaid funding for abortions in Michigan.  Tim even co-sponsored the legislation that eventually put pro-death Dr. Kevorkian in prison.  Tim has a proven track record on marriage issues, including voting for legislation that defined marriage as between one man and one woman.

It was clear that Tim would be a strong advocate for the family when he got to Congress.  Already into his first Congress, Tim Walberg has a 100 percent
voting record with CWA.

Tim and his wife Sue have been married for 33 years. They live in Tipton, Michigan where they have raised their three now-adult children Matthew, Heidi, and Caleb.  Prior to serving in the Michigan House, Tim served as a pastor for almost 10 years.  Tim also worked as a division manager for the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago.   Tim attended Western Illinois University, Moody Bible Institute, Taylor University, Taylor University (formerly Fort Wayne Bible College), and Wheaton College Graduate School, earning his B.S. and M.A. degrees.

2008 Race Outlook

This will be a tight race.  As a freshman Congressman Walberg should have expected a tough reelection, but the liberals are pulling out all the stops in this race. This is one of their top targets in 2008.  That’s why I hope you will support (click here) Tim’s reelection effort.  This year's challenger is Mark Schauer, a liberal state Representative who is running on a platform of universal health care, also known as Hillary Care (who he endorsed for President in 2008).  The liberals are going to make sure that Mr. Schauer has all the money he needs. He has already received campaign cash from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the “gay rights” organization, Human rights campaign and from Big Labor political action committees who are often out of step politically on social issues with their own workers
