Why CWPAC Endorsed
Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC) has endorsed Sydney Hay for Congress in Arizona’s First District. She is running for the seat that opened up when Congressman Rick Renzi retired. Establishment Republicans had tried to recruit a more “moderate” candidate to run against Sydney but that effort failed. There’s no question that Sydney Hay will be a conservative member of Congress. Her experience as a CWA activist and ardent supporter of pro-life causes and an advocate for charter schools in Arizona proves this. She definitely is the kind of candidate CWPAC looks for when we endorse; pro-life, pro-family and conservative to the core. But Sydney Hay isn’t just a conservative on social issues; she is also running as a fiscal conservative and has the record to prove it. Arizona taxpayers have Sydney to thank for legislation that requires 2/3 of the legislature to vote for a tax increase. As a result, Arizonians haven’t seen a tax increase in 15 years. She is also the Candidate who will stand up to Nancy Pelosi and other liberals in Congress, no matter the cost. With Sydney in Congress, we know she will vote no on:
- So-called Hate Crimes, or Thought Control, which if enacted might even make the preaching of God’s word on homosexuality unlawful.
- Abortion on demand and any bill that would allow federal funding of abortions anywhere, whether for American citizens here, abroad or for Planned Parent operations around the world.
- Increasing the federal government’s grip on education, including voting no on reauthorization of No Child Left Behind.

2008 Race Outlook
This is one of the hottest races in the country. Sydney is going to need the pro-family, pro-life community to come out in full force and whatever it takes to get her elected to Congress in Arizona. Her likely opponent is pro-abortion backed EMILY’s List candidate and former State Representative Ann Kirkpatrick. In addition to EMILY’s List, which is raising money for her, Kirkpatrick has also received money from other liberal pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, the Women’s Campaign Forum, and the Feminist Majority PAC. Please do everything you can to help Sydney Hay keep this seat in conservative hands.
