2008 Voting Record for Steve Pearce

2008 Voting Record for Tom Udall

Why Concerned Women PAC Endorses:

For 11 years, Steve Pearce offered a clear, conservative voice for hundreds-of-thousands of New Mexicans in the United States Congress. In 2008, Steve ran for the U.S. Senate eager to represent New Mexico as a champion of strong family values. Unfortunately, after campaigning tirelessly he lost to Senator Udall.

But Steve’s desire to fight for New Mexico’s families has been irritated by the cultural pollution he saw around him. Pearce is running for the New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District.

Steve understands that strong families make strong individuals. And strong individuals are what make America great.

He recognizes that families thrive under when life is preserved and taxes are eliminated—two principles incumbent Harry Teague’s ignores.

Teague chose to vote for the job-killing “Cap and Trade” bill. Liberals tout the bill as a “green” measure that will nurture a healthy natural environment. By voting for it, Teague has demonstrated that he is more concerned about lowering carbon emissions by a fraction of a percent than the health and vitality of America’s family’s.

If this bill becomes law, it will devastate jobs in New Mexico and further cripple American’s wallets.

Harry Teague’s cap and trade bill will:

  • Hit families with as much as $1500 a year in higher energy costs.
  • Destroy jobs in New Mexico’s energy sector.
  • Cost New Mexico over $200 million in higher electricity bills, but lower costs in California and New York.

But the more-appropriately titled “Cap-and-Tax” bill isn’t the only devastating result of Teague’s term in congress.

Harry Teague:

  • Failed to show up for the “hate crimes” vote that passed the house—most likely out of fear of the wrath of the voters of the district
  • Voted for Obama’s $700 Billion dollar bailout
  • Voted for the so-called energy bill, called “Cap and Tax,” which would tax each American an additional $3,000-plus a year.

But New Mexicans have an alternative to Teague.  Steve recognizes that the bedrock of America’s health lies in the strength of its families.

Steve Pearce:

  • Voted for the ban on partial birth abortion
  • Voted for the Marriage Protection Act—and defended marriage as between one man and one woman
  • Voted against federal funding of Embryonic Stem cell research
  • Voted against “hate crimes” legislation, because he wasn’t afraid to take a stand
  • Voted for the Unborn Victims of Violence Act
  • Voted for the Ten commandments and Pledge Protection Act

Steve has also voted numerous times to protect our borders and fund construction of the security fence.

2010 Race Outlook:

Liberals have realized the vulnerability of Teague’s fragile state. The 2nd district traditionally votes conservative and McCain carried it in 2008. With your help, Pearce can win the district, but liberals desperately want to maintain their clutch on it.

Teague has already been placed on Nancy Pelosi’s incumbent protection program designed to raise millions of dollars for liberal Congressman.

Liberal homosexual groups like Human Rights Campaign will be rallying beyond Teague, even though he voted against “hate crimes” bill, because they may not know exactly where Harry stands but they certainly know where Pearce stands.

Pearce is liberals’ worst nightmare. The last thing they want is to see a Congressman who stands for the unborn and defends traditional marriage back in that seat.

But conservatives need him. And he needs you.

Steve Pearce—a leader on conservative issues.
