Concerned Women Political Action Committee Endorses Bill Flores for Congress in Texas’s 17th Congressional District

Concerned Women PAC joins Texas Right to Life in endorsing Mr. Flores

Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC) has announced its endorsement of Bill Flores for Congress in Texas’s 17th Congressional District.

Concerned Women PAC, established in 2002 by Founder and Chairman Mrs. Beverly LaHaye, is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with more than 500,000 grassroots members nationwide.

The current congressman from the 17th Congressional District of Texas is Chet Edwards. Congressman Edwards will be running for his eleventh term in 2010. Mr. Edwards’ rating with CWALAC is poor, having voted against the CWALAC position nearly 85 times in a ten-term career.

·         Rep. Edwards recently voted against the Stupak Amendment which would have prohibited coverage for abortions by insurance companies.

·          Mr. Edwards voted in favor of the omnibus bill which included an increase of $10 million for Title X funding with the bulk of those taxpayer dollars going to Planned Parenthood.  The omnibus bill also gave $103 million to international “family planning” organizations, in effect forcing the American taxpayer to indirectly promote and fund abortions abroad.

·          Mr. Edwards also voted in favor of so-called Hate Crimes, which is a threat to religious liberty and could hamper the ability of pastors to preach the Gospel in their churches.

·         Mr. Edwards has a 100% rating with the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL).

“NARAL’s love for Chet Edwards is probably because he is one of the few members of Congress to actually vote against the ban on partial birth abortion“ said Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women Political Action Committee.

“We are joining with Texas Right to Life and conservative Texans in the 17th district by endorsing Bill Flores in this race for the simple reason that he is a social conservative who is unapologetically pro-life and pro-family and isn’t afraid to expose Chet Edwards’ liberal voting record.   Bill Flores will bring his conservative values and significant private sector experience to create jobs, cut spending and be a strong voice for the unborn and the family.”

Mrs. Penny Nance and Concerned Women Political Action Committee’s mission is to elect solid pro-family, pro-life conservatives to Congress.  Concerned Women PAC sends out a monthly letter to members encouraging them to financially support candidates like Bill Flores.
