"Quico" Canseco Endorsed

Concerned Women Political Action Committee endorses businessman and philanthropist Quico Canseco for Congress in Texas’s 23rd Congressional District

Quico’s business experience, his love for his community and strong pro-life views is just what this country needs right now.

Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC)  has announced its endorsement of Quico Canseco for Congress in Texas’s 23rd Congressional District.

Concerned Women PAC is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with more than 500,000 grassroots members nationwide.

The 23rd district congressional seat is currently held by Congressman Ciro Rodriguez who will be seeking his 7th term in Congress.  Congressman Rodriguez has a poor rating with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee for voting against the CWALAC position over ninety times in his legislative career.

·         Rep. Rodriguez voted in favor of the over all government take-over of health care, which many predict will leave our children with even more debt while causing our insurance premiums to sky rocket long term.

·         Earlier this month Mr. Rodriguez voted in favor of the omnibus bill which included an increase of $10 million for Title X funding with the bulk of those taxpayer dollars going to Planned Parenthood.  The omnibus bill also gave $103 million to international “family planning” organizations, in effect forcing the American taxpayer to indirectly promote and fund abortions abroad.

·         Congressman Rodriguez has voted numerous times to give special protections for individuals based on sexual deviations by expanding the definition of a "hate crime" to include "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" among the protected classes.

While President Obama carried the district with just over 50 percent in 2008, President Bush overwhelmingly won the district in 2004 with 57 percent.  As a result of the nature of the district and Congressman Rodriguez’ liberal voting record, this seat is now competitive.

Quico Canseco is a successful businessman in San Antonio where he lives with his wife Gloria and has three children.  In 1997, Mr. Canseco, along with his mother and siblings, started the Canseco Foundation which provides grant money to support educational, healthcare, and community needs in and around Laredo.

Since that time, Canseco and his family have helped many important causes such as:

  • Funding the Sisters of Mercy who work to administer immunizations, improve early childhood care, and run health clinics;
  • Provide funding for Texas A&M International University’s School of Nursing and;
  • Scholarships to help fund the education of students attending the School of Nursing.

“Quico Canseco is a man who cares deeply about his community and is a strong supporter of values that resonate nationwide” said Beverly LaHaye, founder and chairman of Concerned Women PAC.

“We endorsed Quico over all others in the race, because of his strong pro-life stand and his track record of putting his money back into his community to help others.   There is no doubt that Mr. Canseco is right on all the issues we care about and his business experience makes him the right man at the right time to lead our country.”

Concerned Women Political Action Committee was started in 2002 to help elect solid pro-family, pro-life conservatives to Congress.  Concerned Women PAC sends out a monthly letter to members encouraging them to financially support candidates like Quico Canseco.  For more information on this race, please contact Mike Mears at 202-408-4941.
