Concerned Women Political Action Committee Endorses Conservative Doug Hoffman for Congress in NY-23 Primary Election

Hoffman once again the only conservative in the race

Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC) has announced its endorsement of Conservative Doug Hoffman in his campaign for Congress in New York’s Twenty-Third District.

Concerned Women PAC, established in 2002 by Founder and Chairman Beverly LaHaye, is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with more than 500,000 grassroots members nationwide.

New York’s 23rd Congressional district is currently held by Bill Owens, who narrowly won a special election in 2009.  The special election was between liberal Republican legislator Dede Scozzafava, Democrat Bill Owens and Conservative party candidate. Doug Hoffman. It is widely reported that polls showed Doug Hoffman winning the race up until Ms. Scozzafava dropped out just a few days before Election Day and endorsed the Democrat Owens.    According to news outlets, within a span of just hours after being elected, Congressman Bill Owens broke four campaign promises, including flip flopping on a pledge to vote against a public option in the government take over of health care.  During Congressman Owens short time in Congress, he has managed to vote against the Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee position seven times out of eight votes tracked.

Hoffman is facing off with Matt Doheny in the Republican Primary, September 14.  Mr. Doheny, whose views are much more in line with Dede Scozzafava’s, was a proud backer of Scozzafava last time,  He gave the maximum contribution allowed by law to Rep. Scozzafava and did not endorse Doug Hoffman, even after she dropped out and Mr. Hoffman became the Republican nominee. There is also still question as to just who Mr. Doheny voted for in the special election.

”Concerned Women PAC was the first national organization to endorse Doug Hoffman for the special election in 2009 because he was the only conservative in the race,” says Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women PAC.

We endorse Doug Hoffman today, for the same reasons we endorsed him in 2009. Our founder, Beverly LaHaye, said it best when she said;

"Doug is the only conservative in this race and the only candidate who is pro-life and pro-family.  That is why Concerned Women Political Action Committee endorsed Doug Hoffman."

Penny Nance and Concerned Women Political Action Committee’s mission is to elect solid pro-family, pro-life conservatives to Congress. Concerned Women PAC sends out a monthly letter to members encouraging them to financially support candidates like Doug Hoffman.  For more information on this race, or to set up an interview with Penny Nance, please contact Mike Mears at 202-408-4941.
